Timeline

4 months

Sustainify is a mobile platform that bridges the gap between intention and action for young eco-conscious users. While Gen Z wants to live sustainably, the existing ecosystem was fragmented—forcing users to cross-reference multiple websites to find verified products or events. I led the end-to-end design of this 0-to-1 product, from foundational research to high-fidelity developer handoff.

Context

The "Green Gap"
Everyone wants to help the planet, but no one knows where to start.

For young adults (Gen Z/Millennials), sustainability is a core value. However, the barrier to entry is high. Our initial market analysis revealed that while 73% of our target audience wanted to live more sustainably, only 15% consistently did so because the tools were missing.

My goal was to design a centralized web-based hub that unified three disconnected pillars: Education, Volunteering, and Ethical Shopping—accessible instantly without the friction of an app download

Problem

Analysis Paralysis, the status quo was a browser with 15+ tabs open.

Before Sustainify, a user trying to make an ethical choice faced a fragmented digital journey:

The Tab Overload

To verify a product, users had to manually check certifications on separate websites while shopping, leading to "tab fatigue."

The Trust Deficit

Users were relying on social media influencers for advice, often falling victim to unverified "Greenwashing."

The Disconnect

Finding local volunteering events required digging through outdated community boards or static Facebook pages that were not mobile-friendly.

The opportunity we found

How might we bridge the gap between intention and action for Gen Z, making sustainable living accessible from any device and actively rewarding?

Research

The "Aha!" Moment, we thought they wanted data. They wanted rewards.

To ensure the platform was built on evidence, I employed a mixed-method strategy, spanning competitive analysis, academic literature reviews, and persona development which confirmed the market gap for an "all-in-one" solution.

▲ User Researches

While early assumptions favored a data-heavy "Carbon Tracker," a card sorting sessions was hosted with 15 participants revealed that users found complex analytics stressful and demotivating.

The Shift…

Guided by this insight, I pivoted the product strategy from a dashboard to a gamified experience, ensuring the core loop was driven by positive reinforcement rather than cognitive load.

Solution

A Unified Eco-Ecosystem. One platform to learn, act, and shop.

I designed a seamless web experience that unifies three core pillars of sustainable living, ensuring users can move from "learning" to "acting" without friction.

01

ESG Product Directory

To solve the "analysis paralysis" of shopping, I designed a unified, filterable catalogue that helps users discover vetted products based on carbon footprint and social impact.

02

Personalized Impact Dashboard

Applying insights from our competitive benchmarking of Duolingo and Nike Run Club, I built a dashboard focused on "bite-sized wins". This gamification layer provides the "visible progress" needed to build lasting habits.

03

Interactive Education Hub

I transformed complex ESG topics into bite-sized, gamified lessons using micro-quizzes and animated feedback. In prototype testing with 10 users, this interactive format led to a noticeable boost in retention

Impacts

Live Community Results. Real engagement from real users.

The platform successfully bridged the gap between intention and action. By replacing "analysis paralysis" with a gamified, reward-driven loop, we built a thriving community that doesn't just learn about sustainability, but actively participates in it.

01

2,340 Active Members

Since launching the MVP, the platform has successfully onboarded over 2,300 eco-conscious users, creating a centralized digital hub for sustainability.

02

143 Hours of Action

Beyond digital engagement, the app bridged the physical gap by generating 143 hours of verified community service.

03

Boost in Retention

In prototype testing, the switch from long-form articles to "bite-sized" interactive quizzes led to a significant increase in content completion rates.
